What types of fillers does Dr. Atagi's office offer?
Sculptra®, Radiesse™, Prevelle™ Silk, and Juvéderm - more and more new fillers are being introduced. Please schedule a consultation to discuss the latest offerings.
How long do filler injections take?
We ask that you plan on being in our office for 1 hour. The actual injection takes 20-30 minutes; however, we like to discuss your concerns, treatment plan, and then give you an opportunity to numb the area that is going to be treated.
Will I experience any pain?
We try to keep you as comfortable as possible by numbing the area that is going to be treated. You can choose to have a topical anesthetic, or a dental block to help ease the discomfort of the procedure. Also depending on the type of filler, it may already have lidocaine in it.
How soon will I see the results?
The Radiesse™, Prevelle™ Silk and Juvéderm all have immediate results. Although you will be a little swollen the first several days, the swelling will reside and the actual results will be there. Some patients may develop a bruise around the area treated. Make-up can easily be used to cover the bruise during the healing process.
With Sculptra®, you will also see immediate results, but only for 24-48 hours, and then you will not see any changes. Sculptra® helps to formulate your own collagen and can take a minimum of three treatments to see your desired fullness.
How long does the effect last?
Each filler has been approved by the FDA for a different length of time and for a different area of the face:
- Prevelle™ Silk 3-6 months
- Radiesse™ 18 months; however it stimulates your own collagen production
- Juvéderm 12 months
- Sculptra® 24 months; however it stimulates your own collagen growth
When do you advise Botox® versus injectable fillers?
Botox is used to temporarily "deactivate" muscles that contract, causing unwanted lines in the face, such as frown muscles. Fillers are used to create more volume in the face. Fillers can bring the "apples" back in the cheeks, soften the smile lines around your mouth, as well as help redefine your lips.
Are there other options for minimizing the lines and wrinkles in my face that I should consider?
Depending on how deep the lines are and the location of the lines, you may have other options such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, Pearl Peels, as well as a good physician-grade home skin care program (like Obagi®, Nia 24®, and Atagi Skin) that can help minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
All fillers sound the same. What are the differences between the brands you carry?
During your initial consultation with our experienced clinician, you will discuss your areas of concern, and she will advise you on your choices and the most effective brand for achieving your goals.
