Is there an age that an eyelid surgery should be considered? Is any age too young if my eye lids are saggy?
Individuals as young as their 20s and 30s may achieve a marked improvement in the appearance of their eyes through eyelid surgery.
How long is recovery? How long will I need to be off work?
Healing of incisions may take 5 to 10 days at which time sutures will be removed. You can return to light or normal activity as soon as you feel ready, usually within a few days of the surgery.
How long after surgery will I need to wait before wearing make-up again?
You can start wearing foundation and lipstick the day after your procedure, avoiding the eye area. We ask that you refrain from any eye make-up for 7-10 days following your procedure. If make-up gets into any open incisions, it can cause an infection.
Can this surgery only be performed in the hospital?
The upper eyelid surgery can be performed in the hospital, out patient facility, or in Dr. Tanya Atagi's office—wherever you feel more comfortable.
The lower eyelid lift procedure is more complex and can therefore only be performed in the hospital or out-patient facility.
When is a brow lift necessary, rather than an upper Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)?
Everyone is different. During your consultation with Dr. Atagi, she will advise you regarding which makes more sense for you.
