How long will I be in the hospital?
You may go home the same day or stay one night, depending on your specific circumstances.
Will I have a scar?
Any time an incision is made in the skin, there will be a scar. With time, this scar will fade. Our office also carries silicone sheeting that can help with the scarring. Dr. Atagi and her team of medical professionals will educate you further on the silicone sheeting at your post-operative appointments.
How long is the incision?
The incision size depends on how much skin/fat needs to be removed. The incision is typically curvilinear, going from hip to hip.
How long is the recovery?
We recommend 10-14 days of light duty, with an added 6 weeks with no heavy lifting.
What happens if I gain weight after a tummy tuck?
If you gain weight after a tummy tuck, you may ruin the results of the tummy tuck, resulting in another surgical procedure.
Will I see the results right away?
You will see results right away. However, you will be swollen, so optimum results can take up to 6 months.
Should I expect post-operative pain?
Dr. Atagi tries to customize your medications to fit your personal needs. As with any surgical procedure, you may experience some minimal discomfort; however, we will educate you on good pain management techniques prior to your surgical procedure.
What is the difference between a tummy tuck and VASER Lipo®?
A tummy tuck is when one desires a flatter, tighter abdomen. A tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin. VASER Lipo is used to remove excess fat deposits. VASER Lipo reshapes and contours a specific area. During your surgical consultation, Dr. Atagi will talk with you about your goals for your body and then walk you through the best options for achieving those goals.
Will I have drains after my tummy tuck procedure?
Dr. Atagi does place a drain in the left and the right side of the abdomen. Drains can be removed at your 1 week or 2 week appointment depending on how much fluid is being collected within a 12-hour period.
