Facelift (Rhytidectomy)
Overview / Procedure FAQs / Post-Operative Instructions
The youthful contours of your face and neck still exist beneath the skin that has wrinkled and lost elasticity over time. A facelift will restore these contours by tightening the deep tissue of the face, then re-draping and smoothing the overlying skin.

Initial Consultation
During your initial consultation, board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Tanya Atagi will evaluate your general health, as well as your face and the condition of your skin. Photos of your face will be taken for your medical record. We will discuss your goals and expectations. And we will answer any questions about the procedure, healing, anesthesia, and more.

Sometimes attention to your face or neck alone may not be all that you need to give you that more youthful appearance you seek. In such cases, we will recommend brow or forehead lift, upper and/or lower eyelid lifts, facial VASER Lipo®, Botox, injectable fillers (such as Sculptra®, Radiesse® or Juvéderm) or implants as potential adjuncts to optimize your results.

The Procedure
During your facelift, a discreet incision is made starting in your hairline at your temples. It continues around the back of your ear and ends up in your lower scalp. The fat under your skin will be sculpted or redistributed, and any underlying tissues or muscle will be repositioned. Then, your skin will be re-draped over the new contours and excess skin trimmed away.

Post-Op
Our patients typically stay one night in the hospital or at the Monarch Retreat after a facelift, and we like our patients to know that they may experience swelling and bruising for up to 4 weeks, and it can take up to 6 months or a year before they see their optimum results. As you heal, you will increasingly be able to see and feel dramatically smoother, younger looking skin.

Dr. Atagi and our team will closely monitor your healing progress and make sure you understand all Post-Operative Instructions. Please call our office with questions anytime at (303) 327-7300.
